Oscar W. Leiby
Oscar W. Leiby, 95, of 321 Grim Road, Kutztown, PA (Maxatawny Township), died Monday, October 20, 2003, in his home. He was the husband of Leona C. (Moyer) Leiby. They were married 66 years last June.
Born in Maxatawny Township, Berks County, PA, he was a son the late William A. and the late Ida M. (Grim) Leiby. He was a self-employed farmer for over 60 years retiring in the 1990’s. From 1955 to 1993 he was a custodian at the Maxatawny Elementary School, Maxatawny Township; and, from 1946 to 1992 he was a bus driver for the Kutztown Area School District. He was past secretary and member of the Kutztown Area School Board, Kutztown. During the 1960’s and 1970’s he was the Management Coordinator for the Maxatawny Township Civil Defense, now Emergency Management. He was also a member of the Kutztown Grange #1836 for 80 years. He was a member of the UCC Congregation of Zion’s Union Church, Maxatawny.
He is survived by Wife, Daughters Irene M. (Leiby) Boyer, Kutztown, Jane A. (Leiby) Stinsmen, Allentown, Grace C. (Leiby) Haas, Kutztown, Mary L. (Leiby) Laub, Kutztown, Karen R. (Leiby) Reiss, Kutztown; Sons, Edward J. Leiby, Willow Street, Lancaster Co, Earl W. Leiby, Kutztown, George I. Leiby, Kutztown, Allen L. Leiby, Kutztown, Harold O. Leiby, Reading; Sister, Alma L. (Leiby) Bieber, Kutztown; 21 Grandchildren, 11 Great Grandchildren, and a Great Great Granddaughter.
Funeral Services Friday, October 24, 2003 at 10:30 AM from Zion’s Union Church, Route 222, Maxatawny. Interment in Zion Maxatawny Union Cemetery, Maxatawny. Friends may call Thursday evening from 7:00 to 8:30 PM in the Ludwick Funeral Home, 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown, and Friday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 AM in the church.
