Robert D. Sandom
Robert D. Sandom, 76, of Forrest Road, Mertztown, died Friday, October 20, 2006 in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, near Allentown, where he was a patient since October 17, 2006. He was the husband of Iola D. (Thomas) Sandom. They were married April 2, 1949.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was a son of the late Edwin W. and the late Irene E. (Knowles) Sandom. He owned and operated Mattress Fair, Whitehall, for 20 years where he was known as “Mattress Bob.”; prior to that he was a manager for Manis Pharmacy, Philadelphia for 35 years. He was a member of Harry Houseman Lodge F. & A.M., Philadelphia, Lehigh Consistory, and the Lulu Temple. He was a 1948 graduate of Frankfort High School, Philadelphia.
He is survived by Daughters, June S. (Sandom) wife of Thomas H. Kellogg, Breinigsville, Robin S. (Sandom) wife of Steven F. Gale, Upper Black Eddy, Bucks County; Son, Thomas E. husband of Susan D. (Schwartz) Sandom, Fleetwood. In addition he is survived by Grandchildren, Emberly, Laura, Kerry, Nicole, Michelle, Jesse, and Jill. There is also a Great Grandson, Emmitt. He was predeceased by a brother, Charles E. Sandom who died earlier this year.
Funeral Services are Wednesday, October 25, 2006, at 10:30 AM from Ludwick Funeral Home, 25 East Weis Street, Topton. Entombment in Grandview Cemetery Mausoleum, Allentown. Friends may call Tuesday evening, 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM in the funeral home. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Topton, PA.
