Jim retired in 2016 after a distinguished 30-year career with the Kutztown Borough Police Department. He is a 1979 graduate of Pocono Mountain High School, Swiftwater. He is a United States Air Force veteran and graduate of Pennsylvania State Police, 49th Municipal Police Academy. Jim holds degrees from Reading Area Community College and Mountain State University. After his retirement Jim enjoyed working in the recreational vehicle industry. Jim continues his life of service to others by joining the Ludwick Funeral Home team in 2025.
Jim lives in Topton with his wife Bettie. They worship as members of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Mertztown. Their four children Jessica, Heather, Timothy, and Kaitlin, 11 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild, each have separate interests of their own that keep Jim and Bettie busy and feeling young.
